White River Clean Up 2022

The White River Clean Up was on April 23, 2022.  The Morgan County Partnership for Water Quality had to change the date this year due to flooding on March 13, 2022.  Around 60 volunteers helped clean up at Three Rivers S.R.A., Henderson Ford Public Access Site, and the Paragon Public Access Site

The 15 yard dumpster was almost full when we left at noon on Saturday.  This is a success!  Though there was plenty of garbage collected from the White River area, it was less than what we collected in years past!

Jackson Junk was able to get their trailer full of litter from Henderson Ford and dispose of it properly.   A trailer full of tires were hauled to Big O’ Tires in Mooresville for proper disposal.  There were students from different clubs at the middle school and high school that joined in as volunteers.

Morgan County Soil & Water Conservation District (MCSWCD) along with Morgan County Recycle joined us at the river again this year.  Lisa from MCSWCD was able to pass out free trees at this event!  Some of the trees were donated by Peggy Mayfield.    Erick from Morgan County Recycle provided the dumpster and refreshments.

We had two students from the National Junior Honor Society participate with us this year.  Michaela and Allyson from National Junior Honor Society helped out quite a bit.  The ladies were going to do a rain garden project with younger participants.  Due to lack of young participants, the ladies did get to share the project.  The youth would have been able to build a rain garden in a bottle to help give understanding on how rain gardens help slow the flow of stormwater runoff and clean pollution.

The volunteers along with our community partners – Morgan County Soil & Water Conservation District, Morgan County Recycling, Jackson Junk, Peine Engineering, and Big O’ Tires in Mooresville, were able to make this White River Clean Up very successful!  Many thanks to all!  This has been a yearly event for many years.

This is an annual event.  If you or members of your club/organization would like to participate, please let me know and I will be happy to contact with information.  For more information from the Morgan County Partnership for Water Quality please visit our website:  mcpwq.org
